Serum series

Serum is the amber colored fluid in our blood that helps to keep us well. The work in this series investigates themes of harm and cure. It explores physiological as well as ritual approaches to healing, intersecting the individual body with the social.

Bodies heal wounds by forming scabs. Scabs are formed when the platelets and proteins in blood are exposed to air and bind into thread like substances that form nets. These nets then catch red blood cells, creating protective coverings for what lies beneath.
